Mothers In Crisis, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) faith-based non-profit organization. “Mothers In Crisis is committed to linking families and communities together to provide networks of support and encouragement for families to live productively, empowered, hope-filled lives.” Dr. Rosalind Y.L. Tompkins founded Mothers In Crisis in April 1991. Mothers In Crisis reaches out to families by providing prevention, intervention, inspiration and support through HOPE, (Helping Others Practice Empowerment).
Mothers In Crisis is celebrating 33 Years of Service in April 2024 and we are excited about being the founders and administrators of the National Month of Hope through the National Day Calendar.

HISTORY OF MOTHERS IN CRISIS:
Mothers In Crisis has been providing services in the Tallahassee/Leon County and surrounding areas for over three decades. Mothers In Crisis has impacted and helped over tens of thousands of families throughout the years. Mothers In Crisis’ specialization is providing hope to the hopeless.
Mothers In Crisis, which began as a support group for women, grew into a full-service non-profit organization providing community-based prevention, intervention and outpatient substance abuse services.
MIC started out targeting drug and alcohol addiction during the crack-cocaine epidemic. We learned that sharing stories of hope to families ripped apart by addiction led to solutions and everyone working together makes a difference in the lives of families in crisis. Seeing the power of hope and how it is needed in all areas of life, in 2016 Mothers In Crisis started the Whole Hope Campaign to change the world through Hope. It began as recognizing Friday as Happy Hope Universe Day, a day to share hope and a smile.
Mothers In Crisis was instrumental in founding the month of April as the National Month of Hope through the National Day Calendar. The inaugural year was 2018. Mothers In Crisis gives out HOPEE (Helping Others Practice Enduring Empowerment) Awards during the month of April.

HOPE stands for (Helping Others Practice Empowerment). In April 2016 in honor of Mothers In Crisis 25th anniversary, MIC received proclamations from the City and County designating every Friday as Hope Universe Day. On Hope Fridays, share hope and help with those in need.
April National Month of Hope is now live on the National Day Calendar Website. #nationalmonthofhope National Day Calendar. As a part of the hope initiative Mothers In Crisis rolled out the HOPE Not Hate Campaign encouraging everyone to spread messages of Hope Not Hate every Friday on Hope Universe Day.
